Caregiving Fathers Face More Disrespect at Work Compared to Men Who Perform Traditional Roles

The study found that women without children and mothers with non-traditional caregiving arrangements are treated worst of all.

"Their hours are no different than other employees', but their co-workers appear to be picking up on their non-traditional caregiving roles and are treating them disrespectfully," Prof. Jennifer Berdahl of the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, who co-authored the study with Sue Moon from the Long Island University Post, said.

Results were based on two separate field studies, each using mail-in surveys.

The first was targeted at unionized workers in female-dominated occupations and the other was targeted at public service workers in a male-dominated workforce.

Overall, the studies found consequences for any employee who violated traditional gender roles when it came to having a family.

The least harassed in the office - Fathers and mothers who followed more traditional gender norms; that is, men who did less caregiving and domestic tasks at home and women who did more.

The results suggest that how well a worker performs their gender role in the home has more bearing on how they are treated at work than how well that worker performs their job.

As a result, men and women are likely to feel pressure at work to conform to traditional roles at home.

The study is set to be published in the Journal of Social Issues.

Men Perform Oral Sex on Their Partners to Reduce Risk of Infidelity

The study was conducted to find out why men performed oral sex on females, as the act did not lead to reproduction.

243 adult men in heterosexual relationships were surveyed and the researchers found that cunnilingus is used by men to discourage their female partners from cheating by increasing her relationship satisfaction, a theory which the authors referred to as a mate-retention strategy, the Huffington Post reported.

The study has been published in the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology.

Mumbai Hospitals to Perform India's First Domino Kidney Transplant Surgeries

Domino transplantation involves a series of surgeries where in a donor provides an organ to a recipient not related to him or her while the donor's relative in turn receives the organ from another donor.

The current domino transplant surgeries will be conducted at Hinduja hospital, Bombay hospital and Hiranandani hospital while four of the five recipients are from Maharashtra.

"All the transplants will be done on the same day in different hospitals in the city. Everything ? surgeons, paramedical team, operation theatres ? is in place. The interesting thing about domino transplant is that despite blood group not matching, with the help of five way swap exchange, they are able to undergo kidney transplant. Otherwise, they have to wait for a long. All credit goes to the Apex Swap Transplant Registry (ASTRA) that addresses the issue of mismatch in blood groups or tissues in couples who need transplants", Hinduja Hospital's Dr Jatin Kothari said.

Stroke patients perform better in Get with the guidelines (Regd) - racing program
